Driftspace v0.4.0 - Pretty big update


Not quite sure how to sort all this, good luck.


  • Implemented delta time for smoother gameplay
  • Added the final boss, so a full run can now be completed!
  • Blinking now causes an explosion that damages all nearby enemies
  • Sectors are a bit shorter with 1 less wave per sector
  • Boosting into sides of screen no longer moves pickups, their range is now increased when offscreen instead
  • Can no longer boost up at the top of the screen to speed up
  • You get slightly more time before the first wave at the start of each sector, notably more time in sector 1
  • Scrap drops are a bit more consistent (will make all drops weighted to be fully consistent in next update)
  • Ship stops healing after planet approaching text if it can’t complete 1hp


  • Healing costs +4 scrap per hit and takes longer
  • Max fuel slightly increased
  • Dash recharges faster
  • Scrap value and multiplier reworked, scrap now has a base value of 3
  • Shop prices adjusted
  • Scores required for weapon unlocks and high score colors increased


  • Ship now emits a very faint hum that reflects your current power level
  • Save data should transfer between updates now
  • Added a scrap cloud orbit that visually shows how much scrap you have and healing
  • Cursor is more visually distinct when cannot blink
  • Flashing power is more obvious
  • Map icon displays zoomed movement arrows
  • Made the space for your scrap value a bit bigger on the scoreboard and it always displays 4 digits now
  • Scrap multiplier is displayed below scrap
  • Fixed background stars not dimming properly during gameplay
  • Stars horizontal move speed fixed to look more natural
  • Names changed for sectors 2-4, and text speed tweaked slightly
  • Title screen objects are bigger and consistently sized
  • Fixed first alien spawn being delayed on title screen


  • The same wave type cannot appear more than twice per sector
  • Fixed squads spawning after the planet approaching text
  • Fixed wave and squad spawning text appearing over each other
  • Enemy squads can now only contain enemies that can appear in waves in that sector
  • Lasers no longer spawn in sector 1
  • No full laser waves in sector 2 or full star waves in 2 or 3
  • Less waves with all the same enemy type
  • Enemies now have full hp in sector 1
  • +2hp for radius enemies, sector 4 a bit harder overall now


  • Explosions can now damage enemies as they enter
  • Spinning stars spawn more consistently spread out
  • Asteroids spawn more consistently spread out
  • All enemies now have a border so they can't go too far offscreen
  • Fixed spawns going backwards if spawner killed with blink
  • Mines and spawns drop slightly less scrap
  • Spinning stars slowly turn instead of an instant bounce
  • Radius enemies in sector 4 now look more like an electric radius and emit an electric noise
  • Fixed lasers not locking on properly
  • Mines hiss before exploding
  • Mines have a shield around them that plinks bullets, and now always explode at full size when killed since it’s only possible with a blink now, and flash when exploding
  • Lasers can’t be moved by other enemies so they don’t get pushed away from their charging laser
  • Various other enemy balance tweaks


  • Big magnet removed, jumbo rounds is back in its place for now
  • Electrifier now affects flame bomb’s explosion
  • Electrifier buffed, now stalls enemy shooting
  • Shrapnel range decreased (max range only)
  • Shrapnel is more accurate
  • Laser shoots slightly faster
  • Fireball range slight nerf


  • New tutorial encounters and they are less random
  • Tutorial condensed slightly to try to make it faster and other text tweaks


  • Volume tweaks on mostly player
  • Changing core colors has been temporarily removed
  • Most wing skins have been temporarily removed


  • Tutorial bug fixes
  • Player death effect bug fixes
  • Mines not fading bug fixed
